Family Center/Family Liaison

FAMILY LIAISON

Welcome!

Hello, my name is Glenda Mejia,
and I’m proud to serve as the Family Liaison at West Marin-Inverness School.

My role is to help build strong, meaningful connections between families and the school, because when families are involved, students thrive.

What I Do

As Family Liaison, I am here to support and guide, our families. My goal is to help parents:

  • Access school and community resources

  • Understand their rights and opportunities

  • Serve as a bridge between parents and school staff

  • Assist with translating and interpreting when needed

  • Make sure all families feel heard, respected, and informed

  • Feel confident and welcomed in school spaces

  • Encourage Family Engagement

Whether it’s help filling out a form, getting connected to services, or simply needing someone to listen, I’m here for you.

Why Family Engagement Matters

When families are engaged, amazing things happen. Students are more likely to:
✅ Earn higher grades and perform better on tests
✅ Graduate from high school and pursue college or career training
✅ Feel confident, motivated, and ready to learn
✅ Develop stronger social skills and positive classroom behavior

They are also less likely to:
❌ Struggle with low self-esteem
❌ Need frequent redirection or intervention in the classroom
❌ Experience ongoing behavioral challenges

Let’s Work Together

Together, we can create a supportive, connected school community where every child feels seen, encouraged, and set up for success and it all starts with family.

FAMILY CENTER

  • The Family Center is a warm, welcoming space located right on campus, created especially for parents and families to feel at home at their child’s school. It’s a place where families can connect, feel supported, and be part of the school community.

At the Family Center, parents have the opportunity to:

    • Meet and get to know one another, build relationships, and network

    • Participate in workshops and activities that support both personal growth and family well-being

    • Access educational resources and information about school programs and services

    • Find support with practical needs, so they can focus on helping and encouraging their children

Our goal is to create a strong bridge between home and school by fostering communication, building community, and offering meaningful support for families.
