FAMILY LIAISON

My name is Glenda Mejia,

I am the Family Liaison at West Marin-Inverness School. I connect school to families and students.

My goal is to empower parents to get involved and engaged in their student's education.

Children with families engaged in their education are more likely to:

• Earn higher grades and test scores

• Graduate from high school and attend post-secondary education

• Develop self-confidence and motivation in the classroom

• Have better social skills and classroom behavior

They are also less likely to:

• Suffer from low self-esteem

• Require redirection in the classroom

• Develop behavioral issues

• Provides parents and families with a welcoming space at their children's school for their own use and facilitates communication between families and the school

• Provides opportunities for parents to get to know each other and network

• Offers educational and socializing opportunities

• Serves various needs of families so that parents and other adults can turn their attention to helping and supporting their children
