WILDCAT WORD

January 27, 2023

From Dr. Nolan

January started with a number of weather days, however, that did not stop our Wildcats from learning, planning, and playing.

To give you a snapshot of what is going on our sites I am going to share with you the Student Representative Report delivered at our SUSD School Board meeting last Thursday. Thank you, Paloma Cordrey, our West Marin-Inveness Student Body President, for delivering the report.

Here it is:

This is what is happening at West Marin-Inverness School (as of 1/19/2023)

All classes continue to complete Second Step lessons!

PK/ TK students have a new classmate, Friendasuras. Beginning in February a student will take this friend home each night. This is a lesson in responsibility.

The Kindergarteners continue to learn about community helpers

Today (1/19/23), the 1st graders celebrated the 90th day of school.  The students found 9 ways to make 90,

2nd grade is learning about biomes and habitats. They will conclude the unit with a visit to Marin Arts and Garden Center in March.

The 3rd graders are enjoying the visuals included in the new math curriculum. In science, they are studying cloud formations and storms.

The 4th graders are working on active listening, writing descriptive summaries, division fluency, and continuing class chosen goals of sketching 20 native plants and learning all 50 state capitals by March 1st!

The 5th graders are writing argumentative essays and studying fractions.

And, in the Middle School…… A Valentine’s day dance is in the making!

Student Council has officially taken over Wildcat Wear and will be managing it and adding new designs.

The 8th graders are raising money to visit Westminster Woods toward the end of the year. They will be running concessions at home basketball games and selling food and drinks.
